Mitchell 9ft Sea Bass Spinning Rod Review
I’ve never owned a Michell rod before and always used to use a Daiwa Carp rod for spinning, but since I lost the tip section I thought I’ll have a punt at using a Mitchell.
Priced around thrirty five pounds my first impressions of the rod are that its looks good and seems well made. The action is pretty stiff - mainly parabolic. I like rods with a bit of backbone for dragging lures out of the weeds and snags. It’s not the lightest rod in the world but not bad. the Fittings seem mid range quality nothing bad. The blank walls on the tip section are possibly a little on the thin side bur will probably last ok.
To fish with the rod is great. I’d probably like a longer rod but the longer one but at 10ft it was not as responsive and stiff so I chose the 9ft - which is also a bit more use friendly in a small boat.
You can blast a spinner miles, the heavier plugs go well also. Whats great is tha fact you can but a 2 ounce lead on a running ledger and fish with bait with not stress about snapping it.
All in all I am impressed with the rod - its a great all rounder and good value for money.

a solid buy for the uk angler who wants to go plugging and then fish with bait if they want.
