I’ve been beach fishing for over 15 years, I’ve used multipliers from every major manufacturer in that time and this is possibly the best reel i’ve ever used.

From the moment you see it you’ll fall in love with the smart graphics and the reassuring weighty feel of build quality - its like driving an Audi after a Ford.

This reel make me wonder Daiw even bothered teasing us with the ‘pot boiler’ 7ht turbo because this reel is the reel deal - everything the turbo should have been. I’m gutted I bought a turbo a few years back and would be even more gutted if I’d bought one recently, dont get me wrong its still a good reel but a bit cheeky of Daiwa to bring this out so soon after.

The reel has Daiwa’s trademark one-piece cage which gives it such a solid feel. The power handle is a great compromise for both quick retrieve of tackle over sand and cranking that cod in over a kelp bed. I found that some power handles get in the way when casting this one seems just right.

There is a knurled knob on the left hand side plate that you use to adjust the braking. Its easy to get at and understand. I filled mine with 15lb tournament mono and set them to full on. I could cast away all day long with out any sign of fluffing or bords nesting.

Its idea for both the match fisherman and the serious pleasure fisherman - you can use it for blasting out your impact-lead rig or just droping in close.

The main down point of the 7ht Mag is the price. Theres no doubt its expensive but think of it like this you buy one of these puppies and the chances are it’s going to last you a decade with a bit of care - you get what you pay for…
